Inspired by a dream

Inspired to research and make felt after a vivid dream, I have discovered what a friend termed "a natural talent" with this medium! Pretty much from the first piece of felt I made, someone has fallen in love with each article and given it a new home.

I've always been creative (mainly painting with acrylic and watercolour), but I simply love the tactile approach of creating dimensional pieces of art, often inspired by Nature, which I then embellish with embroidery, crystals and beads. Using vibrant colours, natural fabrics and lots of rubbing, massaging and 'throwing', it gives me great pleasure to create unique pieces of felt for my clients.

These include bags, scarves, belts, hats and glasses cases. Each is hand made using the wet felting technique and
using finest Australian Merino wool, often with lustrous silk tops and other natural fibres, I select the
colours and design the layout according to my client's wishes. Similar to when I do spirit guide drawings and past life readings, I draw on my intuition to create a finished piece that is uniquely suited to the individual. The wonderful thing is, no piece is identical even if similar colours and layout are chosen. So each article is what I like to call a match made in heaven!

You can see how the natural fabrics which include pure Merino wool, lustrous silk threads, and glass or crystal beads and pearls work so well together. The Nuno felt pieces have either soft cotton muslin or silk chiffon backing.

Heart Felt from me to you

your specifications, but am also happy to work intuitively and create your Heart Felt by inspiration. All the felt shown
has been made by hand from raw materials.

For clients working with energy and healing, I am happy to meditate on a quality, such as love, or prosperity, while creating the felt. Appropriate crystals and colours can also be incorporated to bring a combined talismanic quality to the item. You can then focus on your chosen quality yourelf, while wearing your Heart Felt, and allow for a shift in your energy to take place. As our outer world and circumstances reflects our inner world, this may assist the inner work you are already pursuing.

HOW THEY'RE MADE

Soft Australian merino wool is laid down in thin layers, often with silk embellishments. When making Nuno felt, I felt directly onto a fine woven natural cloth, either cotton or silk. This allows for a lighter, yet still strong, fabric. Cobweb felt is make from a very fine layer of wool, laid down in longer strips, which pulls apart during the fulling process, creating the cobweb effect.

The felting process (getting the fibres to 'stick' together) is achieved by massaging hot soapy water into the fibres. To attain a strong and durable finished material, the wool is then fulled with more heat and massage, during which time it shrinks around 30 percent.

The resulting felt cloth is durable, water resistant and, made from the finest wool - is incredibly soft and beautiful.

As you can see, there are as many designs, and choices of colours and detail as there are individuals. Each hand made felt item is unique and makes a wonderful gift - either to treat yourself, or a loved on.

Prices of articles start from around AUD $60.00 (Australian dollars), depending on size, materials and detail. Obviously price takes into consideration time taken to make the felt, create the article and being hand made, carries the assurance that no other piece will be exactly like yours.


Post & Packing depends on weight of finished article and destination and will be included in the total price.
